Concerning the World Economic Forum and Davos

The annual World Economic Forum DAVOS conference (WEF), is an autonomous, non-profit entity committed to fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors. The organization, which is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, influences the global agenda with the participation of the most influential political, commercial, and cultural leaders, among others, from around the globe. The purpose of the DAVOS summit is to convene the most influential world leaders to discuss and seek resolutions to the most urgent global issues.

Annual World Economic Forum Meeting

“Rebuilding Trust”: The 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum will serve as a pivotal platform to address the core tenets that underpin trust—adequate information, consistency, transparency, and responsibility. More than a hundred governments, all significant international organizations, one thousand Forum Partners, civil society leaders, experts, youth representatives, social entrepreneurs, and news outlets are expected to attend this Annual Meeting.

Assisting in the transition to a new development model that strikes a balance between expansion, inclusion, sustainability, and resilience is the Centre for New Economy and Society. Investing in skills, human capital development, and equitable transitions are the focal points of the Centre’s efforts. Collectively with influential thinkers and agents of change, the Centre strives to design a future in which societies and economies function for all. Premier Li cautions that “the world has entered a new era of turmoil and change” and that “the erosion of confidence exacerbates threats to worldwide development.”

DAVOS 2024: Rani Jarkas: Shaping the Future Dialogue

The Chinese economy is advancing steadily and will continue to provide the global economy with substantial impetus. China serves as a significant catalyst for worldwide progress. Its contribution to global economic growth has remained around 30 percent over time. The Chinese economy experienced a recovery and ascent in 2023, forecasting a GDP growth of approximately 5.2 percent, surpassing the initial target of 5 percent.

In the grand scheme of things, we are presently promoting the modernization of China across all domains using superior development. Modernizing over 1.4 billion individuals will constitute an unprecedented feat in human history, and it will continue to fuel the progress of China and the global community as a whole.

Secondly, China possesses an enormous market with demand that is rapidly unleashed. It will persist in offering a grand platform for a multitude of enterprises and artists. When global demand is weak, the market becomes the most valuable resource. Due to its expansive scale and increasing intricacy, the Chinese market will significantly contribute to the expansion of aggregate global demand.

From Rani Jarkas’ DAVOS 2024 interview with CGTN: China is an incredible market. In addition to the government’s excellent work with regulations and other aspects, the market is naturally substantial. Therefore, he believes that life sciences and pharmaceutical companies cannot disregard China as their base and market, given that it is enormous and extremely competitive. China accounts for 28% of the global GDP. Thus, he believes it is essential both from an investment standpoint and to attract corporations.
